Christmas market

During lecture time we went into town to the Christmas market as this is a good time to capture worcester as a whole as its very busy. We took the camera out and the tripod. We wanted a day to night shot so we set up on Sabrina bridge and recorded for nearly two hours. This was worth the wait, we had the lights come on the bridge which really brought this shot to life.

After this was done we moved into town and recorded the liveness of the town at christmas. I was happy to do this as I knew it would bring the advert to life. We went through all of the market and found some real nice shots. I was also taking photographs in case we wanted to add them into the final production. It was freezing however the shots we have took look really good and I would like to use most of these within the final production.

Overall I feel that we have a great range of shots to play around with in the editing and this will give our finished advert a wide range.

We have collected all the shots that we needed for both advertisements. So we have began putting our shots into final cut pro and editing some shots out and making sure we are all happy with the look of our final film. Personally I feel this has took longer than originally planned. As we all want the film to look a certain way. As me and the others don't know how to use final cut pro Emma has been doing the editing throughout the past few weeks, we have been sitting with her and giving our opinions throughout this stage and hopefully this will show in our final outcome.

As me and Nicky have produced the shots of the university advertisement, I felt I needed to do more so I have put myself forward to think of music in which to use for each advertisement. The reasoning behind this was because I'm already doing a sound module and I have a bit of experience in this element. I asked the others what kind of music they wanted for the advertisements and this was my starting point. I didn't want to take over this element so this is why I asked the others what they thought before I began researching and looking for the two songs.

As the first advertisement is aimed at tourists, I decided to look into Edward Elgar as he has a big influence in worcester. However some of the music which I had been looking at didn't fit the advert in my opinion. So I thought deeper and I knew I wanted a piano version of one of his songs so after much debating I finally settled on this song.

The main reasons behind this choose is because I felt it aimed at tourists well and reinforced that Edward Elgar was a big part of worcesters history. Also I was able to shorten this for the minute long without it sounding awful. As this song had to be a minute long. I used Adobe Audition to shorten this song. However I couldn't make it exactly a minute long as it would of literally sounded cut off. So I had to round it off at about 1.10. I shown this to the rest of my team and they was happy with the outcome with this song. I was glad as I was worried that the other members wouldn't like it. My next stage was to pick a song for the university student advert. This was the most difficult to choose and I didn't want it to aim to a certain type of student. I needed something upbeat and easy on the ears as I didn't want the soundtrack to overpower the visual. This was my main issue. However after much thought I finally decided on this:

The reason behind this song is because the chorus is catching and exciting. Also its not just aimed at one certain audience. This song was a little harder to cut down as I only wanted the chorus. So I had to be careful of not cutting too much out otherwise the viewer would hear it and it would ruin the advert as a whole. I opened up the sound a lot bigger in Adobe Audition so I could see where each element started and finished. However I was able to cut it down well and the rest of my group are happy with the outcome.

As I was already doing the sound, I used a Tascam recorder and a shotgun mic to record Nicky reading out the script that tom produced. As Nicky is from Worcester we thought she would be the best for the voice over, we went into a sound booth during a lecture time and went through the both scripts. I felt this went well and we asked the others and we was all happy with the outcome.

I feel confident that we will produce three fantastic adverts we have worked well within our team and we have kept in touch through facebook and text. We have enough time to edit the adverts in next weeks lesson.
